The universe is yours.
With its TV shows and films on HBO Max, DC Entertainment is now migrating the remaining content — the comic books — to a brand-new online catalog starting Thursday.
“The ultimate DC fan destination is almost here,” tweeted DC comics Tuesday. They announced the the digital library, called the DC Universe Infinite, in September as part of a company-wide rebranding initiative, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The comprehensive compendium will be the largest collection of DC comics in the world, with a whopping 25,000 comic books and graphic novels, the AV Club reported. If the sheer volume wasn’t drool-worthy enough, DCUI will also include coveted titles not featured on the previous iteration of the platform, such as “Batman: Arkham Asylum” by Grant Morrison and “Luthor” by Brian Azzarello.
Also on file are selections from the back catalog of Vertigo, DC Black Label and Milestone Media, along with feature-length graphic novels that have been unavailable until now. New selections will be available on the database six months after they’re released, while additional archive titles will be added on a regular basis.
Best of all, readers with a DC Universe subscription can upgrade to the DCUI without losing all their previously downloaded titles, according to Den Of Geek. The new platform will overwrite the old one and transfer all of the subscribers’ old content, even bookmarking the exact page of a comic book where they left off.
Comic book fans can get DCUI online or on iOS and Android devices. The service costs $7.99 a month or $74.99 per year, billed annually.
“This is just the beginning of DC Universe Infinite’s transformation,” Pam Lifford, president of global brands and experiences at Warner Bros., said in a statement.
