Antonio Brown slams Colin Kaepernick after comparisons to ex-QB

Antonio Brown does not want to be compared to Colin Kaepernick, and questioned the former NFL quarterback’s sincerity in helping people in the inner city.

Brown spoke to June Archer on 50 Cent’s “Thisis50” network. Archer mentioned Brown’s free agency,

“We saw what happened to Colin Kaerpernick …” he said, when the wide receiver cut him off.

“Colin Kaepernick not AB. Colin Kaepernick not even from the hood. He’s not even from Liberty City. So, I don’t even want to mention his name,” Brown said. “AB is a valuable football player. AB had stats last year, touchdowns.”

Brown disputed the idea that Kaepernick, who has been out of the NFL since 2016 after kneeling during the national anthem, has been mistreated.

“He’s been treated good,” Brown said. “He got (a) Netflix documentary. Don’t get it twisted. See that’s the wrong thing about the world. We think, ‘Oh Kaepernick treated so bad because they don’t let him play football.’ Yeah, they didn’t let him play football, they gave him commercials. They gave him money. I’m not trying to tell you what ‘they’ did, I’m telling you the reality of what happened.”

Brown mentioned that he is from Liberty City area of Miami, and did not believe Kaepernick is genuinely showing his face in the inner city.

“Kaepernick, I feel like he’s a great guy. He stood for a great cause but he don’t understand. He’s not from Liberty City. He’s not even built like that. Dudes like me, they ban you. They don’t even give you contracts. They don’t even want to deal with you. I’m not really an icon right now. You don’t see them writing no books about me,” Brown said.

“You telling me, yo Colin Kaepernick, what did he do? What’s he at right now? Do you see him? I’m on the streets right now every day – people seeing me. They get excited. You know why? Because I make them feel good. They can relate. They know what’s really going on. But they know I still put on a smile and overcome it.

“Colin Kaepernick created all commotion then went in the cut in the corner. I’m in the people’s face every day.”

Kaepernick has spoken regularly about wanting to return to the NFL, and most recently threw at the University of Michigan’s spring game in April.

On a separate appearance this week on “Cigar Talk”, Brown ripped Kaepernick for “cutting a deal” with the NFL in his 2019 collusion suit settlement, and intimated that the quarterback does not actually want to play football.

“They gave him money and they gave him the commercial,” Brown said of Kaepernick. “They gave him the documentary.”

“We don’t feel sorry for you. You took a deal! F–k out of here. You on f–king Nike man. Get the f–k out of here. He don’t want to play. He was trash. Kaepernick did all that. He took the money and did the commercials. He ain’t outside. Where he at? I ain’t ever seen him outside.

“He already took the money. All that [the practice videos Kaepernick posts] is cap. We ain’t respecting that, bro. You took the money, the commercials. We don’t see him outside. We don’t see him in the hood. He don’t do nothing. We cool, but we don’t understand. He not even from the hood. He not even been in the trenches. We like Kaepernick, but we ain’t really on that.”
