This Is How The ‘Teen Mom’ Stars Have Transformed Over the Past Decade

Back in 2009, reality series 16 and Pregnant first aired on MTV, spawning multiple spin-offs since. Join us as we take a look at how the stars of Teen Mom and its spin-offs have transformed over the past decade.

Kailyn Lowry gave birth to son Isaac in 2010 but didn’t stay with his father, Jo Rivera. After another child and a failed marriage, Kailyn graduated from college in 2017 and welcomed third child Lux with longtime friend Chris Lopez. In 2020 they welcomed another child, son Creed.

There are all kinds of teen moms, even cage-fighting ones. Lindsey Nicholson had to put her cage-fighting dreams to the side when she fell pregnant with Forest Ponce. The young couple welcomed their daughter, Aniyah Monroe in 2011.

Since then, Lindsey Nicholson has had some pretty dramatic plastic surgery. Her husband. T.J. Nicholson adopted Aniyah and they have twins together. Son Jackson and daughter Paisley Ann were born in 2019. The MTV star has revealed her daughter has a throat condition.

Ok, admittedly Kayla Seller hasn’t quite had her Teen Mom journey yet. However, we can speculate, can’t we? The young mom is the newest cast member announced for the third season of Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant, which started in 2021.

The Illinois native is mom to Izaiah Cole with her ex-boyfriend Stephen, and Ariah Jordynn with her boyfriend Luke Davis. Kayla has already accused Luke (pictured) of cheating so we’ll have to see what happens next for the young family.

Let’s kick things off with Mackenzie McKee who first appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2011. On that series, she welcomed her first child, son Gannon Dwayne McKee, with boyfriend Josh McKee. After that, Mackenzie was cast on Teen Mom 3 in 2013.

Also that year, Mackenzie and Josh tied the knot, and then welcomed daughter Jaxie Taylor. In 2016, the couple welcomed their third child, son Broncs. Tragically, McKee lost her mom in 2019 to cancer. She has also accused her husband of cheating.

We first met young mom Ashley Jones when she appeared on Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant. On that show, we saw Jones deal with the early stages of motherhood with fiancé Bariki “Bar” Smith. Their daughter, Holly Isabella, was born in 2017.

In 2020, it was announced that Ashley Jones would be joining the Teen Mom 2 cast as a replacement for Chelsea Houska. At this point, Jones is no longer with Bariki Smith, who she has previously bailed out of jail.

Teen Mom Maddy Godsey ended up getting pregnant after one night with Cody Jensen. Her baby’s father turned out to be useless and absent, so she eventually called it quits with him and moved to live with her own father. Maddy gave birth to her daughter Aubrey Lynn in 2013.

Maddy Godsey made it happen! She got a job as a pharmaceutical tech and got a home for her and her daughter. Unsurprisingly, Cody is nowhere to be seen.

On the third season of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, Jordan Ward struggled with how her pregnancy affected her sister. You see, Jordan was a 17-year-old identical twin with a close relationship to her sis. Ward and boyfriend Brian Finder welcomed baby Noah in 2010.

After the show, Jordan Ward and Brian Finder tied the knot and welcomed a daughter, Arri Monroe. After several years, the couple split, calling it quits in 2016. The next year, Ward welcomed son Leo with new partner Manny Hinkson.

Here’s one of the most notorious cast members from the Teen Mom franchise! Like many on this list, Amber Portwood started out on 16 and Pregnant before being cast on Teen Mom. The teen gave birth to daughter Leah in 2008 and was engaged to Gary Shirley.

In the years that followed, Amber Portwood lost custody of Leah because she went to jail for domestic violence. She then had son James with Andrew Glennon and lost custody due to a situation with a machete.

Orlando native Brianna DeJesus appeared on 16 and Pregnant back in 2012. Pregnant by ex-boyfriend Devoin, viewers watched as Briana gave birth to baby Nova Star. Sadly, Devoin wasn’t willing to contribute emotionally or financially, and the couple eventually decided to split.

Briana was later cast on Teen Mom 3, and then moved to Teen Mom 2. She has since welcomed another daughter, Stella Star, with Luis Hernández in 2017. She recently reunited with Devoin to celebrate Nova’s tenth birthday.

When Cheyenne Floyd joined Teen Mom, she had already appeared on several other MTV reality series. Not technically a teen mom, the 24-year-old welcomed her daughter Ryder in 2017. Floyd and Ryder’s father—Cory Wharton—soon discovered that their daughter suffered from a rare metabolism disorder.

In 2020, Cheyenne announced that she was expecting again, this time with boyfriend Zach Davis. The couple got engaged in 2021 and then welcomed son Ace Terrell the next month. Adorable!

Sometimes, we see the young moms on 16 and Pregnant grapple with adoption. Some are forced into it by their parents, while others always know that’s the option for them. Ashley Salazar wanted to go to college and become a photojournalist but found herself pregnant at 17 by her ex-boyfriend.

Eventually, we see Ashley make the difficult decision to let her aunt and uncle raise her daughter, Callie. Since then, Ashley has had another son, Phoenix Roy, with the same father. She is now a Christian influencer.

Here we have a relatively new addition to the franchise. Jade Cline was initially on Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant and was then moved to join the cast of Teen Mom 2 in 2019. Compared with some of her castmates, Cline is pretty young. Her daughter, Kloie Kenna, was born in 2017.

On the show, we’ve seen Jade deal with her parents’ erratic behavior. As of today, she is no longer in a relationship with Sean Austin, the father of her child.

Back in 2009, we saw a young Catelynn Lowell and boyfriend Tyler Baltierra decide to give their child up for adoption. The pair then appeared on spin-off Teen Mom, and welcomed daughter Novalee together in 2014. That same year, the couple tied the knot in front of some other MTV stars.

Catelynn and Taylor are still going strong and have since welcomed two more daughters. Vaeda Luma was born in 2019, while Rya Rose arrived in 2021.

While lots of the stories on this list have dark details, this one is particularly tough. Valerie Fairman appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2010 when she was just 15 years old. She welcomed daughter Neveah on the show, but her parents later got custody.

Sadly, Valerie Fairman’s life spiraled after appearing on the show. She tragically passed away in 2016 due to substance issues. At the time, Valerie was just 23 years old and had had run-ins with the police.

Chelsea Houska has been on our screens for a long time. The young mom appeared on Teen Mom 2 along with her daughter Aubree Skye and her partner Adam. Viewers watched as she worked for her GED and later ended up in a custody battle.

In 2014, Chelsea met future husband Cole DeBoer. The couple tied the knot in 2016 and have three kids together. Son Watson arrived in 2017, daughter Layne in 2018, and daughter Walker in 2021.

Both Whitney Purvis and her teen boyfriend Weston lived with her grandmother MeeMaw while on 16 and Pregnant. The young couple’s son Weston Owen was born in 2009, and they struggled to adjust to the challenges of parenthood.

Whitney and Weston split up in 2011, had son River Blake in 2014, and then split again. Since then, Weston has gotten married, and Whitney’s mom was arrested. Both Whitney and Weston have been arrested multiple times since the show aired.

In 2013, MTV decided to launch Teen Mom 3, which followed the lives of four girls from 16 and Pregnant. One of those girls was Katie Yeager, who gave birth to her daughter Molli in 2011. On the show, we see Katie and her boyfriend Joey struggle with their relationship.

Since then, both Katie and Joey have moved on with other people. He has three more kids—son Graedyn, daughter Khloe, and son Jax. Katie is married to Tyler Thayn and they welcomed daughter Reagan in 2017.

Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant premiered in 2018, and Kiaya Elliot joined the cast in 2019. The Virginia native ended up pregnant when her girlfriend cheated on her. Later, her girlfriend moved in and helped with raising Kiaya’s son Amour, conceived with X’Zayveon.

Although she’s a new cast member, Kiaya Elliott has been through plenty of drama. In 2021 the teen revealed on Instagram that her son’s father is in prison and won’t be released until 2022. Kiaya has also been arrested.

When 16-year-old Megan McConnell found herself pregnant by a video game loving 19-year-old, she did her best for her unborn child. Viewers watched as Megan welcomed baby Blake, and struggled with her immature boyfriend, Nathan.

Megan and Nathan did actually get married in 2011, but it didn’t last long. Before the year was out the couple had filed for divorce—probably a good idea! With boyfriend Chase, Megan welcomed second son Silas in 2015, and then daughter Felicity in 2019.

Next, we have a pretty wild journey. Lori Wickelhaus was just 17 when she got pregnant with ex-boyfriend Cory. The Kentucky native was adopted herself, and struggled over whether to put her child up for adoption. Eventually she placed baby Aidan in an open adoption.

After the show, Lori had two more kids—daughter Rylynn and son Logan. Shockingly, the former reality star was arrested in 2020 for possessing inappropriate images of children. She was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

Another big name from the franchise is teen mom Maci Bookout. At 16 Maci appeared on MTV alongside her then boyfriend Ryan. As with many of the fathers on these shows, Ryan wasn’t exactly proactive or interested when it came to his new family.

Maci and Ryan welcomed baby Bentley in 2008, and Bookout went on to join the cast of Teen Mom OG. She later had daughter Jayde and son Maverick with husband Taylor McKinney. Ryan went to rehab in 2017 and is now remarried.

Our next entry only spent a short time with the Teen Mom franchise, and had appeared on other reality series beforehand. Bristol Palin joined the cast in 2018 to replace OG Farrah Abraham. However, she later stated that the show “wasn’t a fit” saying, “It took away my peace.. and honestly – my peace has a price tag that no one but God can afford.”

Since leaving the show, Bristol Palin has got into real estate. She has three kids in total.

We’re back with the cast of Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant. In 2018 viewers watched Brianna Jaramillo prepare for and eventually give birth to son Braeson Messiah.

Brianna was the youngest mom on season 1 and struggled to find an apartment. She also dealt with the father of her son, Danae, and questioned whether they should really be together. Later, we see the young mom in a new relationship with Ryan Reams, but they later call it quits. Brianna is active on social media.

When we first met Leah Messer, she was 17 years old and pregnant with twins. On 16 and Pregnant, the young mom and her boyfriend Corey faced the premature birth of their daughters. Before getting pregnant, the couple had only dated for one month.

Since the show, Leah and Corey split when she cheated. However, they later reconciled and got married in 2010. After yet more cheating, they divorced the next year. Since then, Leah has been married and divorced again, and had another daughter, Adalynn.

Farrah Abraham is probably the most famous person to come from the Teen Mom franchise. On the second ever episode of 16 and Pregnant a 17 year old Farrah decides not to tell her ex-boyfriend that she’s pregnant. Later, Derek Underwood dies in a car accident.

Since her first appearance, Farrah has gone on to become a reality TV star, appearing on various shows. Most recently, she is one of nine women to accuse Dominic Foppoli of inappropriate behavior.

In 2010 viewers followed the journey of 17 year of Alabama teenager Kayla Jordan and her boyfriend J.R. Davis. On the show, Davis proposes to his young girlfriend much to the pleasure of both of their parents. The couple then welcome baby Ryan.

Kayla and J.R’s relationship didn’t last and they called off their engagement after the show. In 2015 Kayla had son Bryce with then fiancé Zach Bedwell, and in 2018 has son Odin with now husband Dakota Jones.

At 15 years old Nikkole Paulun was one of the younger teens to appear on 16 and Pregnant. The Michigan native was pregnant with her cheating boyfriend Josh Drummonds, one of the worst fathers the show has seen. The couple welcomed son Lyle in 2009.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Josh ended up in prison for domestic violence, battery, forgery, trespassing and more. Nikkole welcomed daughter Ellie in 2015 with her ex-boyfriend Ryan Rice. She is currently married to Kyle Ledda and they share baby Bodhi John.

Another teen mom stuck with a lousy boyfriend was Texan Felicia Cooke. The 17-year-old struggled with her boyfriend Alex Gutierrez and his mom. Plus, she wanted to be the first person in her family to graduate high school. The couple welcomed daughter Genesis Alexa in 2010.

Felicia and Alex did go on to have another child together. Giselle Isabella was born in 2014 but the couple weren’t together at the time. Since then, Felicia has had a son, Greyson Levi, with her partner Jose Garza.

Where do we begin with Jenelle Evans? The 17 year old party girl gave birth to son Jace in 2009, along with boyfriend Andrew Lewis. However, she later handed her son over to her mom, and Andrew was nowhere to be seen. Since then, Evans has been to rehab, and been fired from the franchise.

The reality star was married briefly in 2013, and went on to have two more children. Son Kaiser was born in 2014 and daughter Ensley in 2017.

Though she’s a relatively new addition to the franchise, Rachel Beaver has brought tons of drama to Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant. The Tennessee native got pregnant while seeing two best friends, and didn’t know which was the father of her child, Hazelee.

The 19 year old has recently criticized her family members, saying that her mom and stepdad live in a dirty house. She also claimed that her mom subjected her to verbal abuse, and that her grandmom used to beat her.

Here’s another new edition to the dysfunctional MTV family. Teenager Selena Gutierrez and then boyfriend Sean appeared on the rebooted version of 16 and Pregnant in 2021. The young mom accused her partner of cheating on her while she was pregnant, and eventually told him where to go. The couple share daughter Dareli.

Recently, the reality star was arrested after an altercation with Sean. He posted clips of the incident online with the caption, “Took Selena for hitting me.”

When we first met Summer James on 16 and Pregnant, she was a pregnant high school student. Along with her boyfriend, D.J. Rewis, Summer welcomed her first child, son Peyton Daniel Rewis. Sadly, Summer’s mom struggled with addiction, so the couple lived with D.J.’s parents.

Since then, the Rewis and James welcomed son Connor Mace, in 2016. Despite their steady relationship, these two eventually split in 2018. Summer is now dating Tyler Rhodes, and they welcomed daughter Addison Kate in 2020.

When Alex Peters found herself pregnant with boyfriend Matt McCann, her mom told her to put the baby up for adoption. If she didn’t, her mom wouldn’t let them live with her. When Arabella Elizabeth arrived, Alex decided to keep her, despite her financial issues.

After we met Alex Sekella on 16 and Pregnant, she joined the cast on Teen Mom 3. By then, she’d split with Matt. By 2015, Alex was dating Tim Peters, who is now her husband. The pair tied the knot in 2020.

More than some of the others on this list, Kristina Robinson-Head had lots to overcome. Tragically, the father of her child drowned prior to their episode of 16 and Pregnant, and she narrowly avoided death. In the aftermath, the teenager had to deal with immense loss, grief, and all the stress of new motherhood.

Shortly after filming her episode, Kristina met T.J. Head who she then married. Together, the couple have two sons, named Tommie Joseph and Layton Jax.

Both Ebony Jackson and her fiancé Josh Rendon had plans of joining the US air force. However, in 16 and Pregnant they find themselves expecting instead. The couple welcomed daughter Jocelyn Jade in 2009, and got married when they finished high school.

Sadly, Jocelyn Jade was later taken away from her parents in 2011. They managed to get her back, then welcomed daughter Jayda Jewel, and got divorced in 2013. Currently, Josh has custody of the girls, while Ebony welcomed Jaelyn in 2015.
