“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” showed superhero powers on its opening night, raking in $11.7 million in sales on Friday, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.

“Scream VI” which was in the number one spot last week, shrieked its way down to second, with close to $5.2 million in sales.

The horror film, the first in the slasher series to be set in New York City, enjoyed a $44.5 million opening weekend, the highest out of any in the franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, “Creed III” is still pulling its weight, and won third prize this Friday, taking home close to $4.36 million.

The sci-fi action movie “65” landed in fourth, with a nearly $1.6 million take.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” trailed in fifth, earning close to $1.2 million.
