Vizio is a private American company that designs and sells televisions and sound bars. Vizio was established in the year 2002 and the company is based at Irvine, California and United States. It was established by William Wang who was an entrepreneur along with Laynie Newsome and Ken Lowe who were the founding employees. The name of the company was changed to Vizio by Wang in the year 2004. The revenue of the company has been estimated to be around $700 million since 2006 and more than $2 billion since 2007. The company is popular for selling HDTVs at lower prices in comparison to its competitors.


The company acquired Advanced Media Research Group Inc. in the year 2014 which was the parent of entertainment website BuddyTV. They also acquired Cognitive Media Networks Inc. in the year 2015 which is a provider of automatic content recognition or ACR and Cognitive Media Networks was later renamed as Inscape Data. Vizio also introduced a free streaming service in the year 2018 known as WatchFree on their SmartCast platform and the service has been powered by Pluto TV. The company has around 400 employees since 2020 among U.S. in states which includes California, South Dakota, Washington and New York.


Although the service of Vizio is being loved by everyone, their products also faces certain issues at a point of time. Recently, users of Vizio have bought up a few complaints related to their home theater system which is the Vizio SmartCast. The issue was with the surround sound system.
