Lionel Richie jokes he no longer goes ‘all night long’ as the hit song turns 40

Nothing lasts all night long — even Lionel Richie.

During a Tuesday appearance on “The View,” the 73-year-old musician talked about his hit song “All Night Long (All Night)” for its 40th anniversary — and made an NSFW admission.

He appeared on the talk show alongside his fellow “American Idol” judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan to promote the 21st season of the show.

“Let me give you the first part that I have to really, really say to you,” Richie said. “When I wrote ‘All Night Long,’ it was truly all night long.”

He continued, joking, “Now my ‘all night long’ is down to a fierce 15 minutes. But, don’t worry, we’ll talk about that later!”

However, Perry didn’t seem too fazed by his answer.

“15 minutes, that’s long, bud!” she said in response.

“And don’t you forget that, alright?” Richie quipped back.

Richie has been dating his longtime girlfriend, Lisa Parigi, since 2014.

He was previously married to Brenda Harvey-Richie from 1975 to 1993. He cheated on Harvey with Diane Alexander, who he was married to from 1994 to 2004.

“It was my fault mainly,” he said about the demise of his first marriage during an interview with Piers Morgan in 2015. “The best thing was I fell in love, the worst thing was I was still married. Yikes.”

He adopted his daughter, Nicole, 41, with Harvey, and shares daughter Sofia, 24, and son Miles, 28, with Alexander.

However, the “Stuck on You” singer seems to be happy in his current relationship with Parigi. The pair, who have been dating since 2014, met at a dinner party after being introduced by mutual friends, according to People.

While speaking to People in 2019, the “We Are the World” singer admitted that he’s a “hopeless romantic.”

“I’m a man who’s been through the ups and the downs, the ins and the outs of love,” he said at the time.

He added of Parigi, “She’s extremely beautiful, but most importantly she’s smart and helps me deal with my crazy world.”

This summer, Richie will taking his music to Europe on a worldwide tour.
