Kate Middleton supporters slam uncle’s preemptive apology for ill-timed interview: ‘Read the room’

He royally screwed up.

Kate Middleton‘s controversial uncle Gary Goldsmith issued a groveling apology on Saturday following the publication of an interview mere hours after the Princess of Wales announced her cancer diagnosis.

“As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday’s ‘Times Magazine’. This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate,” Goldsmith, 58, wrote on X.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article,” he continued, adding that he hoped the announcement “draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies.”

“Let’s give Kate, William & the children time and show some love back,” he concluded.

Several royal watchers on X seemed livid with the statement.

“I think you need to read the room,” one user slammed. “A grand total of no one has seen, or will see the article. It’s probably best to just stay quiet and dignified.”

“Why are you STILL talking about her? Constantly!!! It’s extremely creepy … maybe you fancy her,” another fan said. “Don’t get why an old man like you, who has a family with kids and a wife?? (Which I can’t believe you have ) always talking about kate kate kate !! You’re kinda making everyone hate u.”

“Stop talking about them. Just stop. Stop using them to try and make yourself relevant,” a third user seethed. “You aren’t in the know. This is why you aren’t in the know. You keep running your mouth.”

The mea culpa came after Goldsmith, who had recently dropped out of the “Celebrity Big Brother” finale, seemed to hint that Middleton’s marriage to Prince William was not as happy as it once was.

“Great question. And I’m going to be as honest as I can be,” he told The Times weeks before Middleton, 42, made her announcement. “Our beloved Queen Elizabeth dies and they lose the security of their grandmother.”

“Then Will’s father has only just had his bloody coins printed and suddenly he’s got significant worries too,” he continues. “Then they’ve also got this bloody uncle that no one would want because the arrogance and naivety of Andrew is just beyond me.”

The businessman continued to rant that both Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are also responsible for some of the unhappiness in the Prince and Princess of Wales’s marriage.

William, Harry and Kate were such a happy little trio and it got totally ruined,” Goldsmith said. “With all that going on — and there is other stuff going on that is not in the public domain — are they at their absolute happiest? No. Their kids bring them a lot of joy, but no.”

Goldsmith is no stranger to having people ask him questions about the future queen.

During his time on the UK reality, show, Goldsmith was confronted by fellow “Big Brother” contestant and “Love Island UK” winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu who asked him where the princess was amid widespread conspiracy theories online following her planned abdominal surgery in January.

Goldsmith responded, “So because she doesn’t want to talk about it … The last thing I’m going to do is…There is the kind of code of etiquette, if it’s announced, I’ll give you an opinion.”

“I hope she’s okay,” Culculoglu replied.

“She’s getting the best care in the world,” Goldsmith said, claiming he’d spoken with his sister and Kate’s mom, Carole Middleton. “All the family has done is put the wagons round and look after family first before anything else.”

“They put a statement out that just said it just takes some time to recoup and we’ll see you in Easter,” Goldsmith added, insisting that Kate will “be back.”
