Godzilla (2014) is a reboot of Toho’s Godzilla franchise. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards. The film made Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse. Godzilla stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston. The film follows, “Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a Navy bomb expert, who has just reunited with his family in San Francisco when he is forced to go to Japan to help his estranged father, Joe (Bryan Cranston). Godzilla: King of the Monsters is a sequel to Godzilla (2014) from Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse. The film is directed by Michael Dougherty. Starring Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, Aisha Hinds, O’Shea Jackson Jr., David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, and Zhang Ziyi. 6. Godzilla (1998)
The first film from a reimagining of Toho’s Godzilla franchise was released in 1998. Godzilla (1998) is directed by Roland Emmerich. The film stars Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno, Maria Pitillo, Hank Azaria, Kevin Dunn, Michael Lerner, and Harry Shearer. The film grossed $379 million worldwide against a production budget between $130–150 million and marketing costs of $80 million. The film follows, “During a nuclear test, the French government inadvertently mutates a lizard nest; years later, a giant lizard makes its way to New York City. Dr. Niko Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick), an expert on the effects of radiation on animals, is sent by the U.S. government to study the beast. When the creature, dubbed “Godzilla” by news outlets, emerges, a massive battle with the military begins. To make matters worse, Niko discovers that Godzilla has laid a nest of 200 eggs, which are ready to hatch.”
