The stock price of American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ: AAL) slightly increased today. Investors are responding positively to reports that the U.S. will be easing the travel ban for vaccinated passengers from the European Union and the United Kingdom.

According to Reuters, the White House said that the U.S. will be re-opening to air passengers from China, India, Britain, and many European countries in early November for people who have received COVID-19 vaccines. There is going to be some exceptions to the vaccine policy including children who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated. But the new rules do not yet apply to travelers crossing land borders with Mexico and Canada.

The U.S. had pandemic-related travel restrictions that started last year as part of a blanket ban that was imposed by former President Donald Trump at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the travel restrictions, only American citizens, their immediate families, and green card holders could travel from the EU or the UK to the U.S.
