Martha Stewart had allowed her imagination to get the best of her and it lead to her break up with Anthony Hopkins, the famed television personality and businesswoman said in a Thursday appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Stewart, 80, admitted she ended her relationship with Hopkins, 84, due to his role as cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 horror movie, “The Silence of the Lambs.”
Stewart addressed her split with Hopkins while playing a game of “Two Truths and A Lie” with Degeneres.
“I have a big, scary house in Maine that’s way by itself on 100 acres in a forest,” the “Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party” star explained.

“I couldn’t even imagine taking Anthony Hopkins there. I couldn’t because all I could think of was him eating ... you know.”
The confession also marked Stewart’s confirmation that she was in a relationship with the famed British actor. Although she has previously admitted to going on a few dates with Hopkins, she has not shared details about the extent of their relationship.
It is also unclear when the two dated. Stewart divorced her husband, Andrew Stewart, in 1990 following 29 years of marriage. Meanwhile, Hopkins has been divorced twice and married his third wife, Stella Arroyave, in 2003.
Stewart and DeGeneres’ game also led the media mogul to reveal she would never get a tattoo. “I have no tattoos. I wouldn’t think of having a tattoo,” she said.
While DeGeneres assumed Stewart would have a tattoo because she is “tough,” the star revealed the idea of aging has kept her from inking her body.
“It’s not about being tough — it’s about, you know, growing old with tattoos that get stretched out and ugly,” Stewart said. “Let other people get tattoos.”
While Stewart may have been spooked by Hopkins’ performance, he won an Academy Award for best actor for the role. “The Silence of the Lambs” also earned Oscars for best picture, best actress, best director, and best adapted screenplay.
