The Knicks have clinched their first winning season since 2013. There are lot of reasons to celebrate. They will finish over .500. They have won three straight games and 12 of their last 13. They entered Tuesday with a 1.5-game lead for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. Derrick Rose has been a godsend for this team since they re-acquired him. Julius Randle continues play at an MVP level. And the Knicks have seven games remaining until they are back in the playoffs.

To talk about all the positive vibes with the Knicks and have a terrific conversation with Knicks legend and Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing, we bring you a new episode of the “Big Apple Buckets” podcast with Sal Licata, Jerome “The Junk Yard Dog” Williams and me.

Big Apple Buckets Podcast with Sal, JYD & Jake:

  • KNICKS STAYING HOT: Rose has been pivotal for this team. Randle should be a top-three MVP candidate. Knicks need Nerlens Noel to not miss too much time. Tough upcoming four games on the West Coast that could determine if they get the No. 4 seed or not. Need to try and win two of the four.
  • FIRST-ROUND MATCHUP: Hawks are the preferred matchup and if not, the Celtics. Want to avoid the Heat at all costs, because they swept the Knicks and give them some matchup issues.

Knicks legend (1985-2000)
, Georgetown basketball head coach, 11-time NBA All-Star, Basketball Hall of Famer

  • CURRENT KNICKS/THIBODEAU: They have been great and Tom Thibodeau is doing a fantastic job. Played for him when he was Knicks assistant and coached with him. He knows the ins and outs of the game.
  • ’90S KNICKS MEMORIES: Once a Knick, always a Knick. 1994 Finals was a tough one to lose, because they should have taken Game 3. Not being healthy for 1999 NBA Finals was tough, was emotional over not being able to play, could have given Spurs a run for their money.
  • MSG RETURN: Water under bridge now after talking with James Dolan after not getting recognized at the Garden by security when he was there for the Big East Tournament. May come back for a Knicks playoff game.
