Krispy Kreme (DNUT) is giving away free doughnuts for a year to 8,500 lucky fans to celebrate the franchise's 85th anniversary.
From July 11 to 14, participating Krispy Kreme shops in the U.S. will randomly select a series of customers to receive a free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for a full year.
Winners will receive one dozen doughnuts per month through June 2023. In total, Krispy Kreme will be giving away 8,500 years of free doughnuts, or 1.2 million complimentary doughnuts overall.

“We love celebrating Krispy Kreme’s birthday every year with our fans. But this year is special, we’re turning 85! So we’re going to have a weeklong celebration by giving 8,500 people a year’s worth of free Original Glazed doughnuts,” said Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
To be eligible to win a doughnuts for a year, customers can make a purchase at a participating Krispy Kreme shop from July 11 to 14, or they can fill out and submit a form in-shop to be entered into the sweepstake. There is a limit of one entry per shop visit.
Winners will be notified if they won on July 16 via email.
The doughnut giveaway is in celebration of Krispy Kreme’s 85th year in business. In July of 1937, Vernon Rudolph began selling the doughnuts to grocery stores in Winston-Salem, N.C., before carving out his own retail space.
In addition to the doughnuts for a year promotion, Krispy Kreme is also offering customers an Original Glazed dozen for only 85 cents with the purchase of a regular-priced dozen doughnuts.
A free Original Glazed doughnut can also be picked up by customers any time the Hot Light is on at a Krispy Kreme shop through Labor Day without any additional purchase.
As of Thursday at 10:30 a.m., shares of Krispy Kreme were trading at $13.87, up 6 cents, or 0.43%.
