Kate Middleton, Prince William Pay Tribute To Prince Philip Shortly After His Funeral

Kate Middleton and Prince William continue to pay tribute to Prince Philip following the late Duke of Edinburgh's funeral this weekend.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reunited with other members of the royal family when they attended Prince Philip's funeral at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle Saturday. Shortly after the service, Prince William and Middleton shared photos from the event on Instagram and Twitter as well as called attention to Prince Philip's devotion to his wife of 73 years, Queen Elizabeth II.

"The Duke of Edinburgh was a devoted consort to Her Majesty The Queen for nearly 70 years, from Her Majesty’s Accession in 1952 until his death," they wrote in the caption. "Today’s ceremony was a reflection of The Duke’s military affiliations and personal elements of His Royal Highness’s life."

In one of the accompanying images, Prince William and Duchess Kate can be seen standing behind his grandfather's coffin. The second photo shows the Duke of Cambridge walking in the funeral procession into the chapel alongside Prince Harry and other members of the royal family.

During the service, Middleton also paid tribute to the Queen and Prince Philip through her choice of accessories. The duchess paired her black Roland Mouret dress with pearl dangling earrings and necklace that she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth.

The Japanese pearl choker necklace by Garrard, which features four strands of pearls and a diamond clasp, was gifted to the monarch by the Japanese government. Middleton used the same piece when she attended Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II's 70th wedding anniversary celebration in 2017.

Meanwhile, the duchess' earrings were given to the Queen by the Hakim of Bahrain as a wedding gift following her nuptials to Prince Philip in 1947. It has a large round diamond with a smaller circle diamond hanging below it. Three baguette diamonds hanging from there, with three more small diamonds making way to the dangling pearl.

Middleton sported the sentimental earrings on several occasions in the past, including the Remembrance Day service in 2016, just a year after Queen Elizabeth wore them for the same event.

Prince William also wrote a touching tribute to his grandfather last week in which he spoke about how lucky he felt to have had Prince Philip’s presence in his adult life. The Duke of Cambridge also expressed his gratitude to the Duke of Edinburgh for the latter’s kindness to his wife and the great memories he gave their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
