Juwan Johnson’s wife is so happy free agency drama is over: ‘NFL a lot to handle’

The wife of Saints tight end Juwan Johnson couldn’t be happier that he’s staying with New Orleans.

The team announced Saturday they agreed to terms with the 26-year-old Johnson on a two-year contract extension reportedly worth $12 million with $8.5 million guaranteed.

Chanen Johnson — who is pregnant with the couple’s first child — explained how stressful it was for her when Johnson’s contract was up.

In a TikTok video posted Monday, the influencer — who turned 27 on Tuesday — gushed over the “big things” happening for the couple.

“I’m not going to lie to you guys, I’ve been really stressed out lately,” Chanen said in the “GRWM” [get ready with me] video.

“Honestly, the NFL is just a lot to handle. When your contract is up, there is really just a lot that goes on and no one really understands or talks about … you never know what’s going to happen.”

“We’ve been so blessed to be on the same team his whole career so far, and I cannot even begin to explain to you guys how excited I am that we get to be with the Saints for another two more years.

“That’s something that’s always given me a lot of anxiety because I just know that it would be really hard for me to have to go to a whole new team and I’m just so glad we don’t.”

Chanen went on to share that she and Johnson — who celebrated their third wedding anniversary in February — are “so ready” to start a family and set roots in New Orleans.

“We also literally have a house that we’re obsessed with that we’ve been waiting to buy just to make sure that we’re in the same place because you truly never know,” she said.

Johnson has played in 37 games with 18 starts since joining the Saints in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon.

Over the past three seasons for New Orleans, Johnson has recorded 59 receptions for 706 yards and 11 touchdowns, converting from wide receiver to tight end in 2021.

Chanen added that last year was the first time she’s felt “secure” about their living situation with the unpredictable nature of Johnson’s career.

“Last year was the first year in the NFL that I’ve felt secure. Honestly, the other few years, I never felt secure. I was worried every single [NFL training] camp,” Chanen said.

“I’m actually just so happy to feel good, secure and safe — not have to worry for two years. That’s so amazing. I’m so happy about that.”

Johnson and Chanen — who have a massive following on their individual and joint social media accounts — announced on Jan. 1 that they are expecting a baby girl.

“You’re our dream come true #juandchan,” Chanen wrote, including a video of the couple’s maternity photoshoot.

In a separate video in December, Chanen shared that she experienced multiple miscarriages in 2022.

While recalling what she said was the hardest year of the couple’s life, Chanen wrote that she had a “traumatizing miscarriage.”

After getting pregnant with the couple’s “rainbow baby,” Chanen revealed she suffered a second miscarriage on an airplane.

In January, Chanen shared a video explaining the rules that the couple follows in their marriage.

The influencer said she and Johnson make all decisions together; they have shared bank accounts and they share their social media passwords with each other.

Other rules they follow include: Surrounding themselves with people who encourage them to be better; respecting each other’s boundaries; never leaving the room in the heat of an argument; and putting each other’s needs before their own.

Juwan and Chanen met when they were both students at Penn State.

They dated for nearly three years before tying the knot in February 2020.
