Grading the Jets after their 25-6 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Offense
When you have four turnovers and no touchdowns, it is hard to avoid an F, but I’m going to be nice because they ran the ball well. QB Zach Wilson (19 of 33, 210 yards, 4 INTs, 37.0 rating) had a disastrous day. The offensive line played better than last week and the Jets rushed for 152 yards. Rookie Michael Carter (11 rushes, 59 yards) showed promise. The Patriots shut down WR Corey Davis (2 catches, 8 yards).
Grade: D-
Defense
The defense played pretty well considering it was on the field so much early in the game. The unit held New England to 260 total yards. Patriots QB Mac Jones (22 of 30, 186 yards, 89.0 rating) did not beat the Jets deep but threw lots of short stuff. The Jets sacked Jones three times. LB C.J. Mosley played very well, registering 10 tackles and one pass defensed. The tackling on Damien Harris’ 26-yard touchdown was embarrassing.

Matt Ammendola went 2-for-3 on his field-goal tries. New punter Thomas Morstead only had to punt once and it was a strong one for 45 yards. The Jets’ coverage teams did not get much work. Braxton Berrios had a 38-yard kickoff return.
Grade: C
Coaching
The Jets fell flat on their faces in this one and the coaching staff has to take some blame. Wilson threw the interceptions on his own, but Mike LaFleur is the voice in his ear and needed to calm him down. The defensive plan was sound. They did not allow Jones to make any big plays. Robert Saleh decided to kick a field goal with six minutes left to cut it to a two-score game down by 19. I get the math, but I think sending a message to your team is more important there. Go for it.
