How to fix the Script Hook V Critical Error in GTA 5?


Below are some methods to fix this error in GTA 5.


Method 1: Update the Script Hook Application


Older and outdated versions of the application can lead to this issue.


  • Initially, download the Script Hook application.

  • After that, extract the zip file and open the “bin” folder in the extracted files.

  • And then copy all the files inside the “bin” folder to your GTA V installation folder.

  • Now select “Copy and Replace” to complete the action.

  • Now that the Script Hook application is updated, try to run the game and see if the error has been fixed.

Method 2: Use the Older Version of the Game


  • Firstly, download the Grand Theft Auto files depending upon your Steam version or Rockstar’s Club.

  • Extract those game files.

  • In the extracted files, copy GTAV.exe and the GTAVLauncher.exe then paste these to the game’s installation folder.

  • After that, you will be prompted to Replace the files in the destination, select yes.

  • Once the files are copies, get back to the extracted files and copy Update.RPF file.

  • And then, paste Update.rpf to the Updates folder located in the game’s installation directory.

  • Again, you will be asked to Replace the files in the Destination select yes

  • Performing the above steps will get you to the last version of the game

  • Now run the game and as soon as you get the message to update the game.
