The New York Mets just paid ace starting pitcher Justin Verlander a whopping $86.6 million for two seasons.

Thankfully, you can see him and his new teammates for much, much cheaper this year.

In fact, tickets for some home games at Citi Field are as low as $5 before fees this season.

While we can’t guarantee Verlander will be pitching the day you head to the Flushing ballpark, we can certainly promise you that the price of admission to see Buck Showalter’s squad will cost you less than what you’ll spend at Shake Shack in center field on some days.

So, if you want to see Verlander, Scherzer, Alonso, Lindor, Diaz and the rest of the Metropolitans duke it out next season, snag tickets while they’re still available in the single digits.

New York Mets 2023 schedule

After spring training at Port St. Lucie’s Clover Park, the Mets will host their home opener against the Miami Marlins on Thursday, April 6.

Notable games throughout the season include matchups against the Braves on April 28-30, Phillies on May 30-June 1, Yankees on June 13-14, Dodgers on July 14-16 and Cubs on Aug. 7-9.

The Mets close the season at home against the Phillies on Sept. 29, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Mets 2023 season

Already this year’s Mets season will look quite different from last year’s contenders.

For starters, perennial number one starter Jacob deGrom bolted for the Texas Rangers after receiving a massive five-year, $185 million deal.

And, for the first time ever, every team will play all other 29 teams in the American and National League.

That means the Mets will face off against deGrom’s Rangers at Citi Field on Aug. 28, Aug. 29 and Aug. 30.

Before that, Verlander’s 2022 champion Houston Astros are set to take on the Mets in Houston on June 19, June 20 and June 21.

They say “everything is bigger in Texas”— and now that’s true when it comes to Mets rivalries with teams from the state.

When Verlander and the Mets are away, there will be plenty of exciting concerts and shows hitting the mega Queens venue.

Here are just three of our favorites you won’t want to miss.

• Circus Vazquez (Dec. 5-11)

• Dead and Company (June 21-22)

• Pink (Aug. 3)
