Debra Messing trash talks Kim Kardashian’s ‘SNL’ host gig: ‘Why?’

Well, she did not handle that gracefully.

Emmy-winning sitcom queen Debra Messing slammed Wednesday’s announcement that Kim Kardashian is one of several hosts booked for the upcoming Season 47 of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

“Why Kim Kardashian? I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch,” Messing, who headlined NBC’s Will & Grace” for nearly a decade, sniped via (where else?) Twitter.

“Am I missing something?”

Messing, 53, is notoriously outspoken. Over the years the redhead who will not play Lucille Ball in the upcoming biopic has waged online beef battles with the likes of Oscar winner Susan “Shut the f–k up!” Sarandon, 74, and sitcom dad-turned-accused sexual assaulter Bill Cosby, 84.

However, it’s certainly not like Kardashian, 40, is ever without new content to promote — from her hyper-sexed upSkims shape wear line to her upcoming followup to E!’s just-ended “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” which is set to stream exclusively on Hulu. The family announced in December that they signed a multiyear deal to create content for the platform, set to debut sometime in late 2021.

Reps for “Saturday Night Live” did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on Messing’s messy comments.

Of course, some of Messing’s followers showed up promptly to pile on: “HAHAHAHAHA !!!! I had the same exact question as soon as I saw that and I still have no answer,” Twitter expert Michael S. Bacon, of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, chimed in. “I’m sure Kanye will be involved somehow. I’m not sure I want to waste my time with that episode.”

Bacon added, “And might I point out, the hosts usually have some kind of talent. Other than being famous for being famous.”

Meanwhile, a healthy showing of Kardashian defenders set the former “Starter Wife” star straight, including this one: A social media justice warrior known only as @ImWritingWrongs commented, “Truth be told @DebraMessing, @KimKardashian just wrapped up what is likely the most successful & longest-running reality television show in history & is launching a new series on @hulu. That and her ‘side gigs’ @skims & @kkwbeauty made her a billionaire. She is @nbcsnl worthy.”

Still, haters appeared to take the knockout in this round of Twitter ratio-ing in Messing’s thread: “Kim is famous for being infamous,” NYC-based artist-activist Barbara Malmet declared. “Talk about a nothing burger who parlayed a sex tape into a social influencer lifestyle. SNL disappoints yet again.”

Messing will next been as he Mom character in the screen adaptation of Broadway’s acclaimed “13: The Musical,” and opposite David Cross in the biopic of renowned butterfly collector Robert Pyle.
