Mary Simon’s husband Whit Fraser is a journalist, chairman, and executive director of the Canadian Polar Commission
Fraser was born in Merigomish, Nova Scotia. He began his professional journey with CKEC-FM as a reporter.
Afterward, he joined CBC News in 1967 in Frobisher Bay and Yellowknife. 
One of his most memorable stories is of the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline Inquiry in the late 1970s. It earned him a lot of appreciation and opportunities in the journalism industry.
He was a host of a nightly program, This Country, that aired in CBC Newsworld. 
Fraser left television after he got a job at the Canadian Polar Commission in 1991. But, he briefly returned to television with the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation in 1999.

Whit Fraser and his wife Mary Simon are raising three children; two sons and a daughter.

Mary was working as an interpreter at the time. She assisted him with some of the names, spellings, and translating interviews. 
However, there were both married to other people then but they did strike a good friendship between them. 
For the next two decades, they remained friends and ran into each other frequently. 
But, when they met at a going-away party for a former employer, they realized that both of them were single. It was then their relationship took a new turn and they never separated since then. 
Besides, Fraser’s previous partner’s details are a little vague at the moment. But, Mary was first married to Robert Otis in March 1967. 
They separated and she later married her second husband, George Simon. They also divorced.
