Marvel fans haven’t been this offended since Martin Scorsese dubbed their movies “theme parks.”
In a crushing blow to superhero fans, the critically acclaimed Disney+ series “WandaVision” only took home three 2021 Emmys — with none in any big categories — despite being nominated a whopping 23 times.
Their near-shutout came after Marvel’s fledgling TV show was favored to nab at least two acting Emmys, with both Kathryn Hahn and Paul Bettany expected to win in their categories for limited or anthology series or movies. Meanwhile, 32-year-old “WandaVision'” star Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch) lost out to “Mare of Easttown” star Kate Winslet in the category of Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

“Did it hurt? when you realized wandavision scored 23 nominations at the emmys and still got robbed?” lamented one crestfallen fan.
“And the popular vote goes to Elizabeth Olsen and WandaVision,” said another heartbroken “WV” lover. They also included a screenshot of an IMDb Emmy poll, showing that over half of fans favored the series to win a Best Limited Series Emmy and touted Olsen to take home the Best Actress award.
Olsen had to replicate the mannerisms of actresses from six different decades of sitcoms.APAnother bitter “WandaVision” die-hard ranted, “If you voted for Kate Winslet, I hope your pillow is always warm, I hope your milk is always spoiled, I hope your wifi is always slow, I hope your drive thru order is always wrong, I hope every stoplight you come to is red, and I hope you stream Wandavision on Disney+.”
“BREAKING: The Queen’s Gambit fans and Wandavision fans have both united against the academy,” quipped another fan in reference to that show’s star, Anya-Taylor Joy, getting denied an Emmy victory.
The loss was perhaps especially disheartening given the “Avengers: Endgame” star’s versatility in the show, for which she had to capture the tone and mannerisms of actresses from six different decades of TV sitcoms.
“The range that Elizabeth Olsen showcased while playing Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision was absolutely remarkable,” said one impressed fan.
Despite the soul-shattering freezeout, other Marvel trustees tried to see the glass half-full.
“Unfortunately, Elizabeth Olsen didn’t win the Emmy, however, to even be nominated for an MCU project AND character is already impressive, her outstanding performance in WandaVision truly shined,” wrote one internet cheerleader.
Another added, “Congratulations to #WandaVision team! regardless of tonight it scored 23 Emmy nominations as a comic book show, was Marvel Studios first attempt at a television series and it completely dominated pop culture throughout its entire run as a limited series.”

Of course, Olsen and “WandaVision” weren’t the only ones to receive the cinematic cold shoulder in the eyes of fans.
Other somewhat surprising Emmy snubs include the “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Ann Dowd, late Michael K. Williams of HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” and more.
