“The Crown” took a break in production “out of respect” for Queen Elizabeth II, but the hiatus came to an end.
Following the death of the queen, writer of the Netflix show Peter Morgan told Deadline on Thursday that he expected filming would stop “out of respect” for Her Majesty.
Producers confirmed to CNN that production was halted for the day Friday, Sept. 9.
“As a mark of respect, filming on ‘The Crown’ was suspended today. Filming will also be suspended on the day of Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral,” producers said in a statement to CNN.
Elizabeth Debicki, who will be portraying Princess Diana in the show, was seen filming in Barcelona — five short days after the queen died, according to pictures obtained by the Daily Mail, which said filming resumed one day after the break.
The Post has reached out to Netflix for comment.

The actress was seen wearing a re-creation of Princess Di’s look from her Bosnia visit, dressing in a light pink button-up shirt and black trousers. She also held a bouquet of flowers, as the show depicts Diana meeting with people who lost loved ones from land mines.
Princess Diana was a longtime activist for land mine survivors and was committed to banning them. She played a big role in the adoption of the International Mine Ban Treaty in 1997, according to the Landmine Survivors Network.

But Diana’s support for the cause lived on.
The Landmine Survivors Network was founded by two American victims, Ken Rutherford and Jerry White, and their father, Muhamed Suljkanovic, who lost both his feet in a land mine incident a few weeks before Princess Diana visited their family.
Before she died, Diana assured the family she would financially support a new prosthesis for Suljkanovic. The Royal Family honored her promise, giving a donation to the family a few months after she passed.

Producers for “The Crown” had their own Operation London Bridge, an insider shared with The Post, on what they would do in the event of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
In the wake of Her Majesty’s passing, more and more people have been drawn to the Netflix series.

Wilson/Getty ImagesViewership of “The Crown” skyrocketed more than 800% in the United Kingdom between Sept. 9 and 11 compared to the previous Friday through Sunday period, according to the Guardian. The US viewership more than quadrupled during the same time frame and France’s viewership more than tripled.
Globally, the show reached new heights, with viewership being four times higher this past weekend than the previous weekend.
The cast is currently filming the sixth and final season of “The Crown,” which is expected to be released in 2023, though it’s unclear if the one-day pause will create any setbacks. Season 5 is set to hit Netflix in November.
