On a wild day of wayward field goals and extra-point attempts across the NFL, the Jets and the Giants somehow got kicked squarely in the stomach on another brutal Sunday for the two local football squads.

On either side of the 1 p.m. contests on the East Coast, the Jets and the Giants each slipped to 1-4 and sent their fans back into woe-is-us mode after a one-week reprieve followed dual OT victories in Week 4.

The Giants most notably added to their mounting injury woes by losing their rehabbed running back (Saquon Barkley), their starting quarterback (Daniel Jones) and their $72 million wide receiver (Kenny Golladay) to an already deep list of key regulars to be sidelined. Their 44-20 loss in Dallas only confirmed former Cowboys star and current FOX analyst Troy Aikman’s “not in the same class” statements from last week.
