The stock price of Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) slightly increased intraday today. Investors appear to be responding positively to Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla saying the company expects to release clinical trial data for how well its COVID-19 vaccine works in 6-month to 5-year old children as early as this October.
As a result, the COVID-19 vaccine data for kids between ages 5 and 11 will arrive much sooner. And it could potentially be submitted to the FDA by the end of this month. From that point, the availability timeline will depend on the FDA.’
Bourla made the announcement during an interview at Research!America’s 2021 National Health Research Forum via CNBC.
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine has been cleared by the FDA for patients as young as age 12. But the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccines are just authorized for adults.
