Overwatch PS5 lag issue in 2021 : How to fix it ?

If you play Overwatch on the PS5, you wouldn’t be the first to experience issues connecting to servers. There are many well-known problems including lag spikes, dropping out of games, and response delays. In this article, we will go over some possible fixes for these issues.

Restart your internet provider.

Ah yes, the age-old “turn off and back on again” fix. If you’re using Wi-fi, restart your router. If you’re on an Ethernet connection, unplug it and plug it back in again. If this fixes it, there’s nothing better, since it takes zero effort!

Optimize your internet connection.

If you can, connect your ethernet directly to your PS5 instead of using a wireless connection. Also, disconnect any other devices connected to it like your phone, PC, or Laptop. If that isn’t possible, try cutting down on activities that may be hogging up your internet bandwidth. These include casting Netflix on your TV, running another online game or downloading a software update.

Complete a Looking Glass Test.

Blizzard provides a very useful test called the Looking glass test. It helps identify the causes of any network issues you may be facing. Just open up your browser on your PS5 and go to this link. If the test informs you that it is a problem on Blizzard’s end, well, just wait till their servers are back up again, and restart Overwatch!

Run the built-in connection test.

Go to Settings and then Network on your PS5 to find the “Test Network Connection” option. In case there are problems with your internet, you may want to reach out to your internet service provider to find out if they are experiencing issues.

Let’s hope the many fixes listed out in this article help you solve the lag spiking and get back to playing Overwatch. If the problem persists, you should reach out to Blizzard Support.
