Odell Beckham’s ACL recovery ‘will blow your mind’: Jarvis Landry

Odell Beckham was back to making one-handed catches in a workout last week with several of his Cleveland Browns teammates following ACL surgery in November.

The former Giants star receiver is “in fantastic shape” and looks “ready to go,” according to teammate Jarvis Landry, who also participated in the workouts in quarterback Baker Mayfield’s hometown in Texas.

“He’s already doing some things that will blow your mind,” Landry told the Akron Beacon Journal. “He ran a post route, sticking off the same injured leg and exploding out of it, then going up, jumping off that same leg and making a catch, doing his thing — what he does with one hand.

“You sit back and you’re like, ‘Wait. He’s even better than he was last year.’ So it’s going to be amazing to see as time [goes on] and the further he gets away from surgery how much better he’s going to get…He looked amazing.”

Beckham, who injured his knee Oct. 25 against the Bengals, is scheduled to report to the Browns’ mandatory minicamp beginning Tuesday. Landry, who also was a teammate of OBJ’s at LSU, said he expects Beckham to be ready for Cleveland’s season opener Sept. 12 against the Chiefs.

“I don’t expect nothing less from Odell,” Landry said. “That’s his character, and that’s who he is. He’s a guy who’s always going to train hard and be prepared.”

The 28-year-old Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowl selection with the Giants, had only 23 receptions for 319 yards and three touchdowns – with another score on the ground — in seven games for the Browns last season before suffering the injury.
