Nikola Jokic’s brothers wanted in on heated Nuggets-Suns scuffle

Nikola Jokic’s brothers have his back — even when he’s on the court.

The Suns closed out the second-round series with the 2021 NBA MVP’s Nuggets in Game 4 on Sunday, but not before the center got into it with Phoenix guard Devin Booker. Jokic’s brothers wanted some of the action, too.

Strahinja and Nemanja Jokic were caught on video, standing a few rows back from the court, yelling and pointing at the scuffle — which included players on both teams.

At one point in the fan-captured clip, one of the Jokic brothers can be seen with his foot up on a railing, while what appeared to be arena security attempted to calm him down. Both brothers sported the big man’s jersey.

The on-court incident occurred in the third quarter of the heated matchup, when Jokic was ejected for a Flagrant 2 foul on Cameron Payne.

Denver trailed 83-76 with 3:52 left in the third when Jokic swiped the ball and ended up making contact with Payne’s face.

“I wanted to change the rhythm of the game, I wanted to give us some energy,” Jokic said about the heated moment after the game.

“I tried to make a hard foul. Did I hit him? I didn’t know. I say sorry if I did because I didn’t want to injure him or hit him in the head on purpose.”

Jokic finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes.

While the Nuggets’ 2020-21 season is officially over, the Suns will move onto the conference finals.

Phoenix will have this week off before it faces the winner of the Jazz-Clippers series.
