NFL market for DeAndre Hopkins picking up steam

Interest in DeAndre Hokpins seems to be picking up around the NFL.

The Cardinals receiver is a rumored trade target as the team looks to start anew after a rough 2022 season.

Hopkins did nothing to downplay those rumors as he went on a social media following spree last week, connecting with Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott and Patriots’ quarterback Mac Jones and linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. on Instagram.

Retired NFL cornerback Adam Jones went on the Pat McAfee show Thursday afternoon, giving some insight on the Hopkins situation.

“My sources tell me that D-Hop is getting hot right now,” he told McAfee. “Interest is heating up, there’s five teams on that list.”

Teams reported to have interest in the All-Pro wideout are the Falcons, Ravens, Bills, Raiders and Patriots.

“I don’t really think it’s about the money with him right now … I think he wants to get out … he wants to win. Definitely wants to win and get a shot,” Jones continued. “I go back and look at the teams, and I know ‘D’ as a person … I’m leaning more toward the Bills or the Ravens.”

The Bills are certainly a team that could add another playmaker for Josh Allen to get the ball to as their they ended 2022 falling short of a Super Bowl berth.

Hopkins worked out with Bills linebacker Von Miller in Dallas two weeks ago.

The Ravens on the other hand need all the help they can get in their wide receiver room.

Because of the lack of time Hopkins has spent on the field the last two seasons with the Cardinals, he only put up 572 yards in 2021 and 717 yards in 2022.

In 2020, however, the receiver was one of the most lethal offensive weapons in the NFL, having 115 receptions and 1,407 yards.

The Cardinals are looking for a second-round draft pick in exchange for their star wideout according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. It seems more likely the team would receive a fifth and sixth-round pick per Breer.
