Past and present Yankees apparently approve of the team’s signing Friday of two-time AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber.
Retired ace CC Sabathia and current Yankee slugger Giancarlo Stanton posted a series of fire emojis on Instagram in reply to a post on MLB’s official Instagram account announcing the signing.
Yankees pitcher Luis Severino, who is recovering from 2020 Tommy John surgery, also posted a set of partying face emojis and fire emojis with the reaction “wow.”
Kluber, the former Cleveland Indians ace who has missed most of the last two seasons with injuries, was signed to a one-year contract worth $11 million. The Yanks also finally re-signed AL batting champion DJ LeMahieu on Friday to a six-year deal worth $90 million.
