Clouds of smoke that wafted south from Canadian wildfires put The Bronx in a literal haze by Wednesday afternoon.
In a scene that resembled “Blade Runner,” the sky was blocked and the air heavy, the smell of smoke strong.
There was an orange tint to the atmosphere and the Air Quality Index was all the way up to 191, which registers as “unhealthy.”
Still, as of publication time, there was expected to be baseball played.
Major League Baseball is “continuing to monitor the situation closely,” a league source said.

Minor league games with the Yankees’ Triple-A team (in Moosic, Pa.) and the Mets’ Triple-A team (in Syracuse) were postponed a night earlier, while the Yankees played through the haze.
The conditions had worsened a day later.
