Zuber, a professor of geophysics, was named cochair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) with Caltech chemical engineer and Nobel laureate Frances Arnold. They will be the first women to cochair PCAST.

And given her leadership of immensely complex NASA missions and her deep engagement with the leading edge of dozens of scientific domains as MIT’s vice president for research, it is difficult to imagine someone more qualified to cochair PCAST than Maria Zuber.
