US Open prediction: Odds and tennis pick for Caroline Garcia vs. Ons Jabeur
Commercial Content, 21+

Caroline Garcia is in the form of her life and now finds herself as the clear favorite in a US Open semifinal. It’s a remarkable run for the Frenchwoman, who needed to get through qualifying to get into the draw at the Cincinnati Masters last month. Garcia won that tournament and hasn’t looked back since.

She’s now riding a 13-match winning streak and heads into her showdown with Ons Jabeur without having dropped a single set in this tournament. Even more astonishing is the fact that no player has been able to get Garcia to a tie-breaker.

It could also be argued that Garcia is only getting better as the tournament goes on, too. Her performance against Coco Gauff on Tuesday night was textbook, as she never looked threatened by the American phenom.

US Open prediction: Caroline Garcia vs. Ons Jabeur

Tactically, Garcia played a near-flawless match, putting a ton of pressure on Gauff’s second serve. The Frenchwoman won 73% of the points on Gauff’s second serve and her positioning on the court seemed to get in Gauff’s head, helping her to six double-faults.

If Garcia is having that much success against serve, she’s nearly impossible to defeat since she’s such a force when she has the ball. Garcia packs plenty of pace with her first serve and forehand.

The fact that Garcia is a -155 favorite over Jabeur, who was ranked No. 2 in the world 10 weeks ago, tells you how incredible her form is right now. If you told someone a month ago that Garcia would be the chalk, let alone -155, over Jabeur at the US Open, they’d tell you to give your head a bit of a shake.

Overlook Jabeur at your own peril, though, as the Wimbledon finalist is a dangerous opponent for Garcia, even if she’s not been at her absolute peak this tournament. The Tunisian, who won 11 consecutive matches on grass this summer before losing in the Wimbledon Final, is 43-13 this season and has a 15-8 record on hard courts.

Jabeur has plenty of power behind her forehand and is capable with her backhand, but she’s also a crafty player who can construct and win points in a variety of ways.

Although Jabeur has had plenty of success throughout 2022, it’s hard to step in front of the truck that is Caroline Garcia right now. With Garcia’s ball-striking in tip-top form, she should be able to keep Jabeur on her heels and prevent her from dictating the tempo of this game.

Garcia showed against Gauff that she’s willing to play a front-foot style in order to take advantage of beatable second serves. Jabeur has struggled on her second serve throughout this event and is coming off a match where she won just 48% of the points on her second serve.

The Bet: Caroline Garcia to win in straight sets (+110, FanDuel)
