On June 29th, 1987, the Yankees defeated the Blue Jays in a 15-14 thriller in Toronto. Don Mattingly's grand slam in the second inning and two home runs hit by Dave Winfield, the second being the game-winning grand slam in the top of the eighth, lifted the Yankees to first place in the American League East.
