‘The Flash’s Supergirl went to embattled Henry Cavill: ‘Does Superman approve?’

Even after DC dumped and seemingly publicly humiliated former Superman Henry Cavill, one of the stars of the newest movie asked for his blessing.

Sasha Calle, 27, who plays Supergirl in the upcoming superhero movie “The Flash,” starring controversial Ezra Miller, told EW that she met Cavill, 40, and got his approval.

“I met him actually after the movie was done, months later,” she said.

“I gave him a big hug. You know, it’s Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel. He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience.”

Although her character, Kara Zor-El, Clark Kent’s relative in the DC fictional universe, the two actors are not on-screen together, since Cavill is not in “The Flash” and is finished playing Superman.

Cavill first donned the iconic red cape in 2013’s “Man of Steel,” then “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016) and “Justice League” (2017). He also made a cameo appearance in “Black Adam” (2022).

But, after he announced his return to the role of Superman on Oct. 24, he was then made to rescind that announcement less than two months later, on Dec. 14.

“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life,” he posted on his Instagram page.

So, the studio apparently told Cavill to make this announcement, then he was publicly humiliated in having to take it back.

In January, new DC head James Gunn said, “I like Henry, I think he’s a great guy. I think he’s getting dicked around by a lot of people, including the former regime at this company. But this Superman is not Henry, for a number of reasons.”

Oddly, despite getting rid of Cavill, the studio seems to have no problems keeping “The Flash” star Ezra Miller, 30, who has been arrested in several countries and accused of a wide range of alleged crimes, ranging from burglary to assault to allegedly doing “R. Kelly type stuff” with a teen girl.

Miller was also the subject of 10 police calls in Hawaii in less than a month.

To add insult to injury for Cavill, who also stars in Netflix fantasy hit “The Witcher” but is being replaced by Liam Hemsworth, he also reportedly filmed a cameo for “The Flash” that got left on the cutting-room floor.

But, despite getting “dicked around” by the studio, Cavill was gracious to his on-screen fictional cousin, Calle said.

“I asked him, ‘Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?’ And he was like, ‘Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.’ I think, to me, that meant the world, because it’s Henry Cavill, Man of Steel.”

“The Flash” hits theaters on June 16.
