Sober Steve-O claims Bill Maher refused to stop smoking weed for podcast appearance: He’s ‘the jackass’

It was too high a price.

Former “Jackass” star Steve-O claims he turned down an appearance on Bill Maher‘s “Club Random” podcast after Maher allegedly refused not to smoke pot during the interview.

“I’m a clean and sober guy. It’s very important that I maintain my sobriety, it’s approaching 16 years,” Steve-O, born Stephen Gilchrist Glover, said on his own podcast, “Wild Ride!”

“I am about to be sweet 16. Really, there’s nothing I value more than my sobriety,” Glover, 49, continued. “There’s nothing more that I protect than my recovery.”

The prankster “found it kind of upsetting” when he was told “that’s a dealbreaker” after telling Maher’s team he would appear on the show but requested the 68-year-old host abstain from smoking pot.

According to Glover, he was shocked at the host’s blatant refusal, as other notorious pot smokers previously respected his wish.

“Mike Tyson’s podcast is called ‘Hotboxin,’” Glover stated. “Be real! All of these prolific potheads, I’ve been on their shows and it wasn’t so important to them to blow marijuana smoke in my face, but for Bill Maher it was a dealbreaker.”

The Post reached out to Maher for comment.

Since Glover made the comment, some users on X (formerly Twitter) have slammed Maher.

In one clip posted to the social media site, Maher can be heard telling singer Sheryl Crow: “That’s when I need a joint … but I’d never light one up in front of you.”

“When someone doesn’t respect a person’s sobriety it says a lot about them,” one user posted.

“So, between Steve-O & Bill Maher, Bill Maher is the jackass. That tracks, actually,” a second person said.

“Steve-O’s worst sketch on ‘Jackass’ is funnier than the entirety of Bill Maher’s dips – – t career. The man’s a f – – king loser,” said a third person.

Other users, however, appeared to side with the controversial podcast host.

“I’m no fan of Bill Maher but I’d say no too,” one person stated. “The world doesn’t owe Steve-O anything for being sober.”

“Kinda sounds like a vegan going to people’s houses and asking them not to eat meat,” a second defender said.

“Valid on Bill’s end ngl. The dude’s whole thing is being buzzed for it,” reasoned a third person. “Steve’s not that important. Not worth f – – king with Bill’s vibe on his own show.” Should’ve told him “no because I’m sober & easily tempted” if Bill came back w “I’ll do it sober too” then great.”

Maher has been a staunch supporter of the legalization of marijuana for years.

In 2016, the writer claimed to the Chicago Tribune that the drug shelped him with his creative process.

“I am hardly the only person in this world who finds pot to be a creative aid,” he told the outlet at the time. “But if I’m staring at the blank computer screen sober, I’m thinking, ‘Uh, I don’t want to start this, it’s an ASSIGNMENT!’ Then, as soon as I’m high, which takes about three seconds, it’s, ‘Oh, this is fun! This isn’t an assignment. It’s a GAME.'”
