The Jets and backup safety Adrian Amos agreed to mutually part ways, according to NFL Network.
Amos, who signed a one-year, $7.5 million deal with the Jets after Chuck Clark sustained a serious knee injury in the preseason, had played 34 percent of Gang Green’s defensive snaps and 63 percent of its special teams snaps this season.
He started three games, but he has logged seven or fewer snaps in six of the past seven games.
The 30-year-old Amos recorded 23 combined tackles and one pass defended.
It’s unclear what prompted the Jets and Amos to part ways.
Before his contract with the Jets, Amos spent four years with the Packers and four with the Bears after entering the league as a fifth-round pick in 2015.
He revealed in July that Aaron Rodgers, a former teammate in Green Bay, recommended the Jets as his destination for 2023.

The Jets have relied on Jordan Whitehead and Tony Adams as their starting safeties in 2023, and when Adams exited their Nov. 19 loss to the Bills with a finger injury, Amos replaced him until his eventual return.

The Jets host the Falcons on Sunday, looking to keep their slim postseason hopes alive and prevent their 4-7 record from continuing to sink.
