Ryan Coogler’s 1930s Vampire Thriller Begins Filming

The filming for Ryan Coogler’s untitled 1930s vampire thriller movie, starring Michael B. Jordan, has begun, as confirmed by cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw.

Arkapaw shared an image on Instagram containing the film’s clapboard, teasing the beginning of production with the caption “Get ready.”

The supernatural thriller is set in the Jim Crow South and features a star-studded cast including Jordan, Jayme Lawson, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jack O’Connell.

The film is described as a period thriller centering on vampires, with B. Jordan playing twins. Coogler has written the script and will direct.

Produced by Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian via Proximity Media, the film features composer Ludwig Göransson, along with executive producers Rebecca Cho and Will Greenfield. Göransson, known for his collaboration with Coogler and his Oscar-winning work on ‘Black Panther,’ also received an Oscar for his score on Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer.’

The untitled film is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on March 7, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
