Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart : When is the multiplayer mode coming?

Ratchet and Clank is a video game series exclusive to the PlayStation consoles and has seen a massive increase in its popularity ever since its first release all the way back in 2002. Every single game in the franchise has been developed by Sony itself, except for the two PSP titles, Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank.

Over the nearly two decades of the Ratchet and Clank franchise gracing all of our PlayStation consoles and even our mobile devices, not a single one of these games has ever had a multiplayer game mode to it. It seems as though Insomniac does not have any plans of moving away from the single-player experience that they have stuck so religiously to over the entire lifetime of the franchise.

On the Insomniac support forums, a keen fan not dissimilar to you and I asked, “Will Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart have multiplayer?”. The player received a response from Insomniac, saying “Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. was built from the ground up for PS5 as a single-player experience and we have no plans for a multiplayer component. ”

As is made exceedingly clear by this employee, Insomniac makes the Ratchet and Clank franchise of games solely for single-player and has absolutely no plans to incorporate any form of multiplayer to the series. Us fans can only hope that they decide to take a risk and move away from this formula, albeit it is one that has served them well for many generations of gaming. After all, which gamer or fan of the series could ever turn down the prospect of playing as Ratchet whilst your best mate is alongside you playing as Clank as you make your way through the infectiously fun world of Ratchet and Clank?

Unfortunately, for the time being, those dreams must remain exactly what they are: dreams. Insomniac games seem to have no interest in a multiplayer mode of Ratchet and Clank, and unless the entire fanbase joins in on an upheaval for it, it seems as though Ratchet and Clank will eternally be a single-player franchise.
