Prince Harry 'Led By The Nose' By Wife Meghan Markle, Royal Biographer Claims

KEY POINTS

  • Veteran British broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby branded Prince Harry as "not the brightest"
  • The royal biographer said he believes Meghan Markle is calling the shots in the couple's relationship
  • Dimbleby claimed Prince Harry is "entering a sort of vortex in which they will become less and less significant as a couple"

Prince Harry is being "led by the nose" by his wife Meghan Markle, a friend and biographer of Prince Charles has claimed.

During an interview with U.K.'s The Times, veteran British broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby criticized the Duke of Sussex's recent behavior and dismissed the couple's March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey as "the most ghastly error of judgment."

"I suspect that Harry is led by the nose by Meghan Markle," the longtime presenter of BBC Radio 4's "Any Questions?" claimed. "He's entering a sort of vortex in which they will become less and less significant as a couple. As she gets older, as he gets older, they will matter less because the celebrity on which they trade will become less valuable."

"And it’s a very great shame because when I met him he was absolutely charming – a lovely, lovely young guy. Not the brightest in the world but filled with generosity of spirit," Dimbleby added of Prince Harry.

Dimbleby became a personal friend and biographer of Prince Harry's father Prince Charles after interviewing the heir to the British throne on TV in 1994 when the royal confessed his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

Prince Harry and Markle, who tied the knot in May 2018, announced their plans to step back from their senior working royal roles in January 2020 and moved to California later that year.

One year after their announcement, Buckingham Palace confirmed in February 2021 that the duke and duchess were not going to return as working royals. One month later, the couple aired their grievances during their tell-all interview with CBS, claiming that they felt "a lack of support and lack of understanding" from the Firm.

Prior to their wedding, an unnamed royal insider told People that Markle "is definitely the one wearing the trousers in their relationship."

"She is a strong, opinionated woman who has her own ideas about things, and that’s one of the things he loves about her," the source added.

Royal author Tina Brown, who recently released her new book on the British royal family "The Palace Papers," noted in a recent interview with Page Six that Markle seems to get the lion's share of the blame for the couple leaving the royal family.

She suggested that Prince Harry had "wanted out" for a while and that his wife only "enabled him to do what he wanted."

"He's shown ever since that he absolutely hates that whole life, doesn't like it," Brown said of Prince Harry. “If not but for Meghan, he wouldn't have found a way out because he basically was a man who had everything done for him all of his life. He had never carved a life for himself. Meghan was very much a self-starter, a self-made successful woman. She knew who to call at Netflix. He wasn't worldly like Meghan was worldly."

The author continued, "They wanted to be global. If you want to be a global humanitarian superstar it's going to take cash and that's not going to be the same kind of money where you can live comfortably in Norfolk."
