The Oscars will be handed out Sunday, March 2 — a week earlier that this year’s March 10 show — and will return to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood for a 24th consecutive year. The ceremony again will start at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET — a welcome time change from 5 p.m./8 p.m. that began with the 96th Academy Awards last month.
Nominations will be announced on January 17, a month after the shortlists are revealed. Voting on noms will run from January 8-12, will final balloting set for February 11-18.

ABC will televise the Oscars for the 50th year in a row, having started in 1976. We won’t hear about a host for six months or more, but the network’s long-running late-night host Kimmy Kimmel drew praise for emceeing the 2024 ceremony for a second consecutive year and fifth overall.

The Academy also set the 2024 Governors Awards for Sunday, November 17. Recipients are TBA but generally are announced in late June.
