Travis Kelce is setting the record straight about a certain viral moment from his date night with rumored girlfriend Taylor Swift.
During Wednesday’s installment of his “New Heights” podcast, the Chiefs tight end addressed online chatter that alleged he nudged a member of the pop star’s security team in an effort to open a car door for Swift, with whom he stepped out in New York on Saturday.
“I didn’t push him. I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him,” Kelce told his older brother and co-host, Eagles center Jason Kelce, who asked if the 34-year-old received “any pushback from the actual security guards.”
“If I had pushed him, he probably would have turned around and tased me.”
Kelce and Swift, 34, were photographed holding hands as the “Cruel Summer” exited a vehicle in Manhattan over the weekend.

As Jason, 35, continued to playfully prod Kelce on the podcast, the Chiefs star then illustrated the series of events.
“[It was like] ‘Good sir, can you excuse me? I need to get the door. Sorry, I’m right behind you. Don’t want to startle you. I know it’s your job to keep crazy people away and if you just randomly get pushed in the back while standing in front of a door, that could probably be a little alarming,'” Kelce said on the podcast.

“I feel like whenever I’m on a date I’m always like having the sense of, ‘I’m a man in the situation. I’m protective.’ Yeah, for sure, you always kind of have that feeling or self-awareness, I guess,” Kelce said.
Elsewhere on Wednesday’s podcast, Kelce — who has been romantically linked to Swift since September — joked about what sort of conversation she had with the brothers’ father, Ed Kelce, at the Chiefs’ game last Thursday.

“He’s started to listen to her music a little more, he’s started doing some stuff.”
Swift has continued to send the internet into a frenzy when attending Kelce’s Chiefs games, which began last month.
The Chiefs will host the Chargers on Sunday, and much of the NFL community is waiting to see if Swift will once again be at Arrowhead Stadium.
