Golden Doxes are less than two feet high and make playful family dogs. They combine the feisty attitude of the Dachshund with the gentle loyalty of the Retriever. This pooch might be stubborn in training, but they're naturally friendly and energetic.

No, This Isn't A Wolf. It's A Wolfdog

In 1955, the Czech Republic bred German Shepherds with a Carpathian wolf (yes, a wild wolf) and created the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. This breed was originally trained to hunt, rescue, and search for the military. Now, they're the national dog of Czechoslovakia.

Czech Wolfdogs fulfill pet owners' dreams of taming a wolf. If you train these dogs well, they'll remain calm and clean. Fearless and suspicious, they make powerful guard dogs who enjoy strenuous exercise. Since they're independent, Czech Wolfdogs require strict training.

This Cotton Ball Is A Chineranian

Also called a Chim Pom or Pom Chin, a Chineranian combines a Japanese Chin with a Pomeranian. Some of these mixes look like fluffies Chins; others are straight-up cotton balls. However they appear, they're all low-energy cuddly dogs.

Chineranians have long fur that needs to be brushed daily and groomed often. But when it comes to exercise, they're low-maintenance. They're sensitive dogs who grow close to people and pets of all ages.

The French Pin, A Lap Bulldog

How cute is this pup? This is a French Pin, a mix between a Mini Pinscher and a French Bulldog. This mutt has the pinched face of a Bulldog with the big Pinscher ears, creating an adorable puppy face that most people haven't seen before.

This mix only developed in the past 20 years. Although the French Pin is low-maintenance, it can be spunky and a bit of a barker. They're great apartment dogs if you monitor them around children.

These Perky Ears Belong To A Taco Terrier

This tiny breed is as recent as the early 2000s. Taco Terriers get their name from their two parent breeds: Chihuahuas and Toy Fox Terriers. The "Taco" references the Chihuahua in Taco Bell commercials.

Schnoodles make great therapy dogs, but you might notice them favoring one person (a trait they adopted from Schnauzers). Although these designer dogs have varying types of fur, they usually require professional grooming.

Guard dogs with puppy faces are a hard find, but there's one mutt that fits the bill. Boxador inherits the intelligence of a Boxer with the eager-to-please attitude of a Labrador Retriever. Although it's unknown when this mix came to be, it has recently grown in popularity.

As long as you train Boxadors well, they'll make perfect companion dogs. Like their parents, they require lots of exercise and moderate grooming, especially during shedding season.

By the way, this is a Pit Bull and a Husky crossbreed, something out of a dream. Back to the Travolta thing. In the actor's prime, he was one of Hollywood's finest. We'd like to say that's a fair comparison from that user.

If you're in need of a guide dog, what better one to have than this one right here? His name is Recchi and he's a marvelous crossbreed that you've probably never seen.

Recchi is part Labrador and Bernese Mountain Dog. That can explain the flowing coat that shines as the light bounces off of it. Look at that smile on Recchi's face, he's a good boy if we've ever seen one. Someone get this pooch a trophy.

Regardless of whats going on, we're in love. This is a Great Pyrenees and a Malamute Mix. We'd never thought we see a crossbreed like this in our lives, but we're sure glad we did. This just made our days and then some.

Adorable isn't the word. Graceful might be closer, but still not enough. There might not be a correct word to describe this masterpiece of a crossbreed. Take a moment and admire the look she's giving.

This is a mix of a French Bulldog and a Pug. Pugs have never been so precious. If this was the only dog breed on Earth, we'd be completely fine with that. Who wouldn't want this little one trotting around their home?

Second of all, what better pooch to come home to than this. It's a Yorkshire Terrier and a poodle all in one. That's not something you can for granted. Not everyone is this lucky to have a combination of that caliber.

Once again, a Corgi crossbreed strikes and brings love to our hearts. This time, the Corgi mixed itself with a classic and well-loved breed. Can you see what it is?

This is the immaculate result of combining a German Shepherd and a Corgi! Those are two of the most beloved pooches on the planet and you can correct us if we're wrong. After one look at this little one, we want a whole house of them.

The Choco Lab Pit

With a stigma of Pit Bulls being aggressive and dangerous dogs, what better way to get rid of that notion, then by adding some chocolate? Are we right or are we right?

This is a Chocolate Lab and Pit Bull mix, and a lovely one at that. It looks like she's smiling, and even if she's not, she looks like a good dog. One that will play fetch with you until the sun falls down.

Rottweilers Have Been Used For Cattle, Military, and Police

Rottweilers may be notorious for their protectiveness, but that's just because of their long history as a professional working dog. According to Pet Health Network, Rottweilers were first brought to Germany by the ancient Romans.

They were used as herding dogs until the cattle car was invented. Once people stopped breeding them for their farms, Rottweilers almost went extinct. Thankfully, police and military saw the intelligence in this dog breed and took them on, keeping the population alive.

Doberman Pinschers Were Bred To Protect The Taxman

Speaking of protective police dogs, the Doberman ranks amongst the highest on the list of intelligent dog breeds. In fact, the Doberman was bred specifically in order to protect taxman and dog breeder Louis Dobermann, hence the name.

The American Kennel Club says in 19th Century Germany the "Tax Collector's Dog" was bred from the Black and Tan Terrier, German Pinscher, and Rottweiler. No wonder the dog has an international reputation with the military.

Shetland Sheepdogs Dominate The Competition

Shetland Sheepdogs may be smaller than their Border Collie cousins but they are just as smart. These eager dogs excel in international dog shows where they dominate in obedience, agility, and herding trials.

They also make for excellent watchdogs due to their cautiousness around strangers and their propensity for barking. Despite these disciplined traits, they can be affectionate when the time calls for it and make awesome family dogs due to their sensitive nature.

Golden Retrievers Are Very Trainable Dogs

The Golden Retriever is known as a loyal, life companion. Their gentle temperament may not make for the ideal guard dog but it does help them excel as service dogs for the disabled.

Retrievers have been trained to assist the deaf, blind, hunters, and search and rescue teams. They were originally bred to be a medium-sized bird dog in 1850. Today, according to CBS News, the dog also ranks third in the most popular dog breeds in the US.

Labrador Retrievers Have An Excellent Sense of Smell

The Labrador is an excellent communicator, and can oftentimes assist not only the blind and deaf but those with special needs in getting through the day. Reuters notes that in 2018 they maintained the number 1 breed in the US for the 28th year in a row.

The breed is highly intelligent and has incredible focus if they're motivated to a task. They’re an ideal breed to become a search and rescue dog and to work as a therapy dog.
