The top three potential NFL free agency targets for the Giants

Notable players to watch for Giants

Jonah Jackson, G

The starting guards in 2023, Ben Bredeson and Justin Pugh, are free agents and the Giants are desperate to land a top-tier guy here. Jackson, 27, is a product of Rutgers and Ohio State, and made the Pro Bowl in 2021. He is coming off an injury-slowed season and a so-so grade (61.0) from Pro Football Focus, but he represents an upgrade. He will not come cheaply. The Rams re-signed Kevin Dotson for three years and $48 million, and that is the financial neighborhood Jackson will eventually reside in.

Bryce Huff, edge

Is this an ascending pass rusher who might be able to be signed for less than the more proven guys out there? Huff, 25, had 10 sacks last season for the Jets despite not starting any games and playing just 42 percent of the snaps on defense. He was third in the NFL in pass-rush win rate. Undrafted out of Memphis, perhaps he can be a nice complement to Kayvon Thibodeaux, with injury-prone Azeez Ojulari in the final year of his contract.

In case you weren’t paying attention, Saquon Barkley was not tagged and is headed toward free agency. That means the Giants need to fortify their offensive backfield. GM Joe Schoen last week, unsolicited, mentioned Moss (and Devin Singletary) as running backs who will be available. Both were with the Bills when Schoen and coach Brian Daboll were in Buffalo. Moss had a career-high 794 rushing yards for the Colts last season. Singletary had 898 yards for the Texans. Both are 26 years old and better suited to sharing a job. Neither of them should be too costly.
