The Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson ‘suffering from dementia,’ placed under conservatorship

The Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson has been placed under conservatorship after his health deteriorated following the death of his beloved wife last month.

The “In My Room” singer’s loved ones confirmed that two family representatives will serve as the 81-year-old’s co-conservators.

Wilson’s family said the decision was prompted by the death of Wilson’s wife, Melinda Ledbetter, who died at the age of 77 last month, according to a statement on Instagram.

“Following the passing of Brian’s beloved wife Melinda, after careful consideration and consultation among Brian, his seven children, Gloria Ramos, and Brian’s doctors (and consistent with family processes put in place by Brian and Melinda), we are confirming that longtime Wilson family representatives LeeAnn Hard and Jean Sievers will serve as Brian’s co-conservators of the person,” they wrote Thursday night.

“This decision was made to ensure that there will be no extreme changes to the household and Brian and the children living at home will be taken care of and remain in the home where they are cared for by Gloria Ramos and the wonderful team at the house who have been in place for many years helping take care of the family.”

“Brian will be able to enjoy all of his family and friends and continue to work on current projects as well as participate in any activities he chooses,” they added.

In court documents obtained by The Blast, the music icon, 81, is suffering from a “major neurocognitive disorder (such as dementia) and is “unable to properly provide for his own personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.”

Wilson is being treated for the disorder, the doc adds.

The Post has reached out to Wilson’s reps for further comment.

News of Wilson’s ailing health comes just weeks after Ledbetter’s death.

Wilson announced the news in a heartfelt post on social media, saying Ledbetter, who he’d been married to since 1995, was his “savior” and “anchor.”

“My heart is broken. Melinda, my beloved wife of 28 years, passed away this morning,” Wilson wrote on Instagram on Jan. 30.

“Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost. Melinda was more than my wife. She was my savior. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career.”

“She encouraged me to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything for us. Please say a prayer for her. Love and Mercy Brian,” the two-time Grammy winner added.

During their nearly three-decade-long union, the pair had adopted five children together: Dakotah Rose, Daria Rose, Delanie Rae, Dylan, and Dash.

Wilson was previously married to Marilyn Rovell from 1964 to 1979.

The exes share daughters Carnie and Wendy Wilson, who are also musicians and are members of the group Wilson Phillips.
