‘Taylor Swift Vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood’ Doc Set At Discovery+ UK

Warner Bros Discovery UK & Ireland has ordered Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood (working title), a two-part doc series.

The show will run on Discovery+ UK and be the streamer’s latest instalment in the Vs franchise, following Johnny vs AmberKim vs Kanye: The Divorce, and Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial. Optomen is producing ahead of a June launch.

The story will follow the feud between global poster Swift and music industry exec Braun, looking at the $300M dispute after Braun bought the rights to Swift’s first six albums. It will hear from legal experts, journalists and those close to both Swift and Braun, presenting each side of the argument.

Swift claimed that the sale was conducted without consulting her and that she has since been blocked from buying back her masters, while Braun alleged Swift refused to negotiate and instead incited a public feud by pitting her fan base against him. Themes will cover the intricacies of music ownership, gender dynamics in the music industry and the power of fan influence.

Charlotte Reid, VP Commissioning, Networks & Streaming at WBD UK & Ireland, said: “Taylor Swift’s dispute with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her music exploded into the mainstream, taking contract law from boardroom to social media and into public interest.

“It’s a high-profile, high-interest story that opened debate on fandom and dominated headlines, one which will resonate with our viewers who are highly engaged with access-led documentaries like Vs, which continues to be a popular format on Discovery+.”

Reid commissioned the show, which is executive produced by Matt Reid for Warner Bros. Discovery in the UK & Ireland. Nick Hornby and Sarah Eglin are EPs for Optomen, which is part of All3Media.
