One eventual Hall of Famer quarterback is set to return to action after testing positive for COVID-19, but now another star signal-caller is out because of the virus.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be placed on the reserve-COVID list on Saturday and is out Sunday vs. Lions, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Mason Rudolph is expected to get the start for the 5-3 Steelers, who trail the Ravens by a half-game in the AFC North.
This comes on the heels of the Green Bay Packers officially activating Rodgers from the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier in the day, clearing the way for the reigning MVP to play against the Seattle Seahawks.
Rodgers missed last week’s loss to Kansas City Chiefs after testing positive for COVID-19 and hasn’t practiced with the team since then.
As for Roethlisberger, the 39-year-old is no longer in his prime but has had a solid season for Pittsburgh, throwing 10 touchdowns for 1,936 yards and just four interceptions.
