Pat Perez’s wife shades Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele wine trip

The pettiness between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour continues unabated — and has now spread to spouses.

Nikki Guidish, who is engaged to Patrick Cantlay, shared some photos on Instagram from a jaunt to wine country in Napa with Xander Schauffele and his wife, Maya.

“Good wine, better company,” Giudish wrote in the caption.

In a comment that has since been deleted but was preserved by Golf.com, Ashley Perez, wife of LIV Golfer Pat Perez, interjected that it looked like a snooze fest.

“I’m sorry,” Ashley Perez wrote. “That doesn’t look like fun…. At all.” She added a “zzz’s” emoji to hammer her point home.

This comes during a week where the friction between the PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf has been reaching a fever pitch.

There’s some awkwardness at the BMW PGA Championship, an event at the DP World Tour (formerly called the European Tour) where PGA and LIV golfers are both on the card. A group including Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter had what was termed as a “tense” meeting with DP World Tour CEO Keith Pelley.

Also involving the BMW Championship, PGA Tour player Billy Horshel asked a crew of LIV Golf players, who had not previously played many if any DP World Tour events, “Why are you here?”

“Billy’s DP pro career 2013-today,” Talor Gooch, one of the LIV Golf players named in Horshel’s tweet, responded. “64 events. 58 major/WGC/2022 Scottish(pga tour event). 6 pure DP events in total (I wonder how many he got $ to play) and his first non maior/WGC P appearance 2019 BMW (won FedEx in 2014). He supports whats best for his career. Like all of us do.”

Meanwhile, Cam Smith, who recently defected to LIV Golf, recently had his membership — and his parking spot — revoked from TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. This has been a perk of winning the Players Championship, but it evidently only applied to PGA Tour players.
