Samantha Lorraine to Star as ‘Dora the Explorer’ in ‘Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado’ Directed by Alberto Belli (Report)

The sequel to the live-action ‘Dora‘ movie is titled ‘Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado,’ and it is now confirmed that Samantha Lorraine (known for ‘You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah’) will play the role of ‘Dora the Explorer.’ The role was previously portrayed by Isabela Merced, and she has been replaced in the sequel.

The film will be directed by Alberto Belli (known for directing the Disney+ holiday feature ‘The Naughty Nine’) from a screenplay by JT Billings.

According to the film’s logline, “Dora, her cousin Diego, and their new friends trek through the perilous dangers of the Amazonian jungle in search of the ancient treasure of Sol Dorado in order to keep this powerful treasure out of enemy hands. Swiper, no swiping!”

Lorraine starred as Lydia Rodriguez Katz in the popular Netflix comedy ‘My Bat Mitzvah’ in 2023. The movie focuses on Lydia’s friendship with Stacy Friedman (Sunny Sandler). She started acting in 2020 on PBS’s ‘Kid Stew’ and also appeared on AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead: World Beyond’ that year.

The first live-action adaptation film based on the animated television series Dora the Explorer, titled ‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold,’ was released in 2019. Directed by James Bobin and written by Nicholas Stoller and Matthew Robinson, the film’s story was crafted by Tom Wheeler and Stoller. Moner played the role of Dora Márquez, a 16-year-old jungle explorer and the main protagonist of Dora the Explorer. Dora is described as the daughter of Cole and Elena and the cousin of Diego. Additionally, Moner voiced Dora in the spore scene. The film grossed $120 million worldwide against a budget of $49 million.

Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount Pictures are producing the film for Paramount+ and Nickelodeon. The production is set to begin this fall, with a scheduled release date in 2025.
