Is Dead by Daylight Dead now (2024)

As 2023 reaches its end, Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight still continues to be the go-to game for fans of the asymmetric multiplayer survival genre. The game’s Steam version alone gets an average of more than 30k players each month. And this is despite all the balancing issues the game has. But with 2024 fast approaching, both new and old players seem to be very curious about the game’s overall health.

Behaviour Interactive has done an amazing job of supporting the game with new and exciting content. In fact, the studio hasn’t slowed down one bit when it comes to adding new content to the game. Dead by Daylight players just recently saw the debut of new killers like Chucky and the Xenomorph from Aliens. As for Survivors, Ellen Ripley and Nicolas Cage also got added to the game a while back. But despite all that, some players are worried about the game’s future. So, is Dead by Daylight getting killed off in 2024? Well, continue reading to find out!

Players can put aside any worries they have regarding Dead by Daylight shutting down in 2024. The game isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, the studio has already released a 2024 roadmap for the upcoming live updates. Mind you, this is just for the first half of 2024. It’s all pretty clear that Behaviour Interactive has no plans to abandon support for the one game that’s known to be their golden goose.

Furthermore, as we stated earlier, the game has a pretty good active player base, and the numbers speak for themselves. Getting an average player count of more than 30k is a very respectable number, and that’s just for the Steam version only. With the game being available on all platforms, including mobile, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to say that the overall player numbers are much bigger.

Aside from all that, you also need to remember the fact that there’s really no competition for Dead by Daylight out there. The game reigns supreme in the asymmetric multiplayer survival genre. Identity V is unable to get any major attention, while The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is still hanging at an all-time peak of 17K+ players for the Steam version. No wonder Dead by Daylight has such a large following.

It’s also true that DBD has its own fair share of issues. Players especially keep complaining about balancing in the game. But Behaviour has been working on this issue for a while and has somewhat fixed this. And with all the new updates and roadmaps being released, you can rest easy knowing that Dead by Daylight isn’t going anywhere for some time. Especially not in 2024.
