Mystery ‘Grim Reaper’ from King Charles’ coronation explained

The Angel of Death has finally been unmasked.

The identity of the mysterious, black-hooded figure that caused a stir at King Charles’ coronation on Saturday has been revealed to be a verger.

The majestic crowning occurred at Westminster Abbey, which told Newsweek that the verger was the one who was spotted creepily scurrying around the room in the shadows.

This person is defined as someone who is not a member of the abbey’s clergy, but who helps out with church services and sometimes carries a rod before a bishop or priest.

During the historic coronation, royal fans saw the person — dubbed as the “Grim Reaper” — and took to Twitter to collectively discuss their confusion.

“Anyone else just notice the Grim Reaper at Westminster Abbey?” one person tweeted at the time.

“Anyone else see the Grim Reaper make an appearance at the Coronation?” tweeted another.

Other viewers quipped it could be Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, in disguise.

The former actress, 41, opted not to attend the event with her husband and chose to stay home in Montecito, Calif. with their kids Archie and Lilibet.

The footage also found its way to TikTok, where one clip scored 8.8 million views on the “reaper’s” quick cameo and dashing exit.

“NAH IT CANT JUST BE ME THAT SAW IT,” the caption read. Of course, watchers gave their take, with someone writing: “Diana getting her revenge.”

Another added: “Queen Elizabeth bout take her crown back.”

In another viral moment from the enthronement, fans thought that Markle snuck into the party via a very interesting disguise.

People hilariously believed that the “Suits” star donned a wig, mustache and glasses and showed up to the event.

The idea came about when during the coronation broadcast, a composer named Sir Karl Jenkins, was spotted to be rocking his ‘stache in his seat.

Many fans quipped on social media about the man and Markle’s possible stealth mission.

“[Meghan], you’re not fooling us …” someone penned on Twitter. Another user chimed in and said it was “Snowpiercer” actress Tilda Swinton “deep in character.”

“Just wait until the polyjuice potion wears off,” said one commenter, referring to the magnificent transformation potion from the “Harry Potter” franchise.
