Marquette vs. Ole Miss odds, prediction: Expect a Rebels statement

The Shriner’s Children’s Charleston Classic tips off Thursday as Marquette takes on Mississippi after knocking off No. 10 Illinois.

The Rebels are shooting 39.2 percent from 3-point range their first two games this season and rank 35th in the country in points scored on a per- possession basis. Guard Jarkel Joiner is leading the way with 18 ppg and making 54.5 percent of his 3s.

Marquette is 271st among Division I teams in 3-point shooting percentage at 27.1 percent and is allowing opponents to make 35.4 percent of their 3-point attempts, which rates 235th in the country.

The Golden Eagles also rank 281st in rebound rate with opponents grabbing eight more rebounds per game than they do. This will give Mississippi, which is shooting 51.8 percent from the floor overall, second chances on missed shots.
